The following inspiration/story came from Father Larry Richards on Relevant Radio:
Imagine yourself on a beach in India. You reach down and pick up one sand grain, and then take that grain and deposit it onto the summit of Mount Everest.
Now imagine transporting not only that sand grain, but every grain of sand on that beach, then every grain from every beach in India and every sand grain in the world, and placing each grain on the top of to Mount Everest.
When you have completed that task, eternity will only have just begun.
We are both body and soul, many days we spend hours entertaining or primping ourselves, and little or no time is spent praying to God or performing works of charity.
Let us remember to spend at least a few minutes each day thanking God, perhaps at least say one decade of the Rosary.
It is good for your soul!
Also, do not forget to pray for the Holy Souls in Purgatory.

Devotion of the Five First Saturdays
The following is the First Friday requirement, for a more thorough explanation go here.
History of First Friday
First Friday devotions among Catholics are related to devotion to the Sacred Heart of Christ. First Friday practices date to the last decades of the 17th century, when Jesus appeared to St. Margaret Mary and spoke to her of His Sacred Heart. Among the promises Our Lord revealed to St. Margaret Mary, the 12th specifically referenced practices for Fridays:
In the excess of the mercy of my Heart, I promise you that my all powerful love will grant to all those who will receive Communion on the First Fridays, for nine consecutive months, the grace of final repentance: they will not die in my displeasure, nor without receiving the sacraments; and my Heart will be their secure refuge in that last hour.
The following are the First Saturday requirements, for a more thorough explanation go to Rosary-Center.org
Devotion of the Five First Saturdays
For Five (5) consecutive first Saturdays:
1) Confess within eight (8) days of the first Saturday.
2) Receive Holy Communion in the state of grace.
3) Recite the Rosary: five (5) decades.
4) Keep me company for fifteen minutes while meditating on the mysteries of the Rosary.
Perform all of these with the intention of making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Sacrament of Confession
Great news! Over the weekend I ran into a friend of mine who made his first Confession in 35 years, praise be to God!
This reminded me of the many resources available on the web including a schedule of confession times throughout the Archdiocese of Saint Paul (seee below) from Stella Borealis.
Another valuable resource is Father Altier's Examination of Conscience, available at Leaflet Missal, or online.
Our Lady of Seat of Wisdom, pray for us. J-M
